【摘要】:1.1ThisspecificationdescribestherequiredcharacteristicsofwatersdeemedsuitableforusewiththeStandardsunderthejurisdictionofASTM.1.2ThealphanumericcharactersascribedtowatertypesandgradesarespecifiedintheASTMFormatandStyleManual.Thesehavebeenassignedinorderofhistoricalprecedenceandshouldnotbetakenasanindicationofaprogressioninwaterpurity.1.3Fourtypesofwatershavebeenspecified,withthreeadditionalgradesthatcanbeappliedtothefourtypes.Thegradespecificationsspecificallyaddresscontaminantsofmicrobiologicalorigin.1.4AllapplicableASTMStandardsareexpectedtoreferenceoneormoreofthesereagentwatertypeswherereagentwaterisneededasacomponentofananalyticalmeasurementprocess.WhereadifferentwatertypeorgradeisneededforanASTMStandard,itmaybeaddedtothisSpecificationthroughtheASTMStandardrevisionprocess.1.5AlthoughthesewatertypesandassociatedgradeshavebeendefinedspecificallyforusewithASTMStandards,theymaybeappropriateforotherapplications.Itistheresponsibilityoftheusersofthisstandardtoensurethattheselectedwatertypesorgradesaresuitablefortheirintendeduse.Historically,reagentwaterTypesI,II,III,andIVhavebeenlinkedtospecificprocessesfortheirproduction.Startingwiththisrevision,thesetypesofwatersmaybeproducedwithalternatetechnologiesaslongastheappropriateconstituentspecificationsaremetandthatwatersoproducedhasbeenshowntobeappropriatefortheapplicationwheretheuseofsuchwaterisspecified.Therefore,theselectionofanalternatetechnologyinplaceofthetechnologyspecifiedinshouldbemadetakingintoaccountthepotentialimpactofothercontaminantssuchasmicroorganismandpyrogens.Suchcontaminantswerenotnecessarilyconsideredbytheperformancecharacteristicsofthetechnologypreviouslyspecified.1.6Guidanceforapplications,thepreparation,useandmonitoring,storage,handling,distribution,testingofthesespecifiedwatersandvalidationofthewaterpurificationsystemisprovidedinofthisdocument.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
